Arliemoor accepts men and women who have mental health difficulties and are aged between 18 and 65. Many are referred by their Consultant Psychiatrists. Our residents can stay with us for as long as they choose subject to their care plans under the  Care Programme Approach and / or Care Management systems. Most residents are not subject to any of the compulsory powers allowed by the Mental Health Act 1983 or the Mental Health (Patients in the Community Act) 1995 but we can accept people under Guardianship or Supervision Orders, if they have a key worker with whom we can liaise.

We also ask to be included in care planning processes so that what we offer can complement the treatment and care regimes offered by Consultant Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, Community Psychiatric Nurses and Mental Health Social Workers.

The Arliemoor Garden

Our approach to rehabilitation is to encourage, motivate and support our service users to access the facilities in the community.  We are aware of how difficult it can be, in the initial stages, to have the confidence to participate in activities outside of Arliemoor.  We maintain a high level of staffing in order to provide the support necessary to succeed in this aim. We are also able to offer in-house activities such as:- organic gardening, fitness training, woodwork and mechanics, meditation, cookery, arts and crafts.

We enable residents to follow their chosen religious preferences by attending services in the community or receiving visits from the clergy. We encourage visits from family and friends to help maintain contacts and to prevent feelings of isolation that can occur when there is a loss of independence due to mental ill-health. The freedom to invite friends and family to visit is a right the individual can expect whilst living at Arliemoor.

Please Note As all but one of our bedrooms are on the first floor, any prospective resident would be required to manage the stairs independently.  The current age range of our clients is between 21 - 59 and includes both males and females with poor mental health. Frequent vacancies are unlikely. If vacancies  do arise both staff and the current residents will give careful consideration to any prospective service user wishing to live at Arliemoor. The thoughts and general wellbeing of present residents and the care team are always paramount in any selection process. Unfortunately, we are unable to cater for service users with visual impairment or a history of arson.

Contracts are generally made with us by  Social Services Departments' Community Mental Health Teams or by Community Partnership Mental Health Trusts, either of whom arrange the necessary financial support to meet our charges. We work very closely with mental health professionals and our local GPs, and we are proud to enjoy particularly good relationships with our local mental health services. Details of our current charges are available on request.
